George Washington Carver: Scientist and Inventor

By Judy Monroe

Although not a colorful as the previous book, this book provides black and white photographs to enhance a more detailed text. The book tells the same story of George Washington Carver's life beginning as a slave and his adoption by the Carvers. It also tells the story of how hard George struggled to become educated and eventually became an educator and inventor at Tuskegee Institute. This book provides a great deal more information about his work, successes and recognition he achieved later in life. The book ends with copy of the postage stamp issued recognizing him in 1948, fast facts, a timeline of his life, a glossary, a recommended reading list, and recommended Internet sites.
