What's for Lunch, Rice

By Pam Robson

Representative of rice production worldwide, the book depicts planting seed rice through harvest and consumption. Although a bit confusing, photos of the high-tech method of rice production of the United States are interspersed with those of the hand-labor production methods in developing countries. This is the weakest book in the series but recommended because of a lack of any other book depicting modern rice production. The book mentions insect damage and the need for chemical intervention but the photo accompanying the text is of fertilizer application by hand. It concludes with familiar foods made from rice and an excellent glossary.
