Super Soybean!
Welcome to our At Home Learning Page! We will do our best to offer weekly ideas for at home learning about agriculture!
These activities will all be free to access and share. Our weekly activities do not build on each other, but are individual and can be done in any order.
This week we are looking at the super soybean!
Bean Seed Life -This lesson introduces students to how soybeans are grown by farmers, teaches seed anatomy through a seed dissection activity, and illustrates the germination of the soybean plant. Good for K-2nd grade! You can follow up with the My American Farm Game "That's Life!"
Soybeans can be made into many things, including plastics! Make your Own Soybean Plastic
Grades 3-4 Read Peggy Thomas' book "Full of Beans" to learn how Henry Ford used soybeans to make a car! Or you can listen to a recorded version here.
Grades K-2 Read My Family's Soybean Farm or listen to a recorded version by author Katie Olthoff here. You can also do a free activity "Seeds and Needs" associated with this book.
