Peanut butter

March is National Peanut Month, and what better way to celebrate than learn where they came from.

Discover the Powerful Peanut: Peanut Activity Cards

This collection of 12 activities is perfect for teaching 3rd-5th grade students all about peanuts. This resource is a special project of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, made possible by U.S. peanut farmers and industry. This free downloadable peanut resource allows students to practice their math, science, social science and English language arts skills all while learning about the wonderful world of peanuts! PB&J Hooray!

This adorable book by Janet Nolan tells the story of how peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are made! Starting from the farm, all the way to the kitchen table the book describes how peanuts become peanut butter (as well as where jelly and bread come from!) The fun rhyming text is perfect for Pre K- 2 grade students. You can buy this book here.

Pb&J Hooray! Educator Guide

The Foundation has created an Educator guide to accompany the PB&J Hooray! book. It contains 5 lessons that teach students about rhyme, shapes and how our food gets to our table. All the lessons address literacy and math learning standards, and additional activity suggestions are included! You can order this guide here. Get a sample lesson here. 

Operation Peanut Butter

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture and the National Peanut Board, along with state peanut producer and industry organizations created this fun My American Farm game for grades 3-5. The game allows students to follow peanuts from the field to the peanut butter sandwiches on their plates! While playing this game, students will also be working on their math and science skills! Play now

There is also an accompanying lesson plan and activity sheet so students can learn even more about peanuts.
