We love hearing about your ag literacy efforts all across the country!

The Washington Soil & Water Conservation District partnered with Rick and Teresa Schramm of Schramm Dairy Farm to host Farm City Day in Marietta, Ohio. All 5th grade students within the surrounding county, including home-schooled children, were invited to attend.  More than 750 people showed up for this two day event; in addition to students, teachers, parents, bus drivers, volunteers and county officials came to learn.

On the farm, adults and children alike went to stations to learn about feed and nutrition, predators, ag products and byproducts, manure and so much more! They even got to tour the milking parlor. Attendees got to see first-hand where their food comes from and how hard farmers and ranchers work!

The Farm City Day event just celebrated its 21st consecutive year- wow! It is the hope that youth and parents will leave the event with a better understanding of agriculture practices and share all the information they learned with their communities.

Thank you to the Schramms and the Washington Soil & Water Conservation District your dedication to educating youth and adults about the importance of agriculture!

Do you know someone in your community who deserves to be recognized for their ag literacy efforts? We are always looking for volunteers to recognize through our Volunteer Recognition Program! We depend on our large network of volunteers to spread the story of agriculture, so we cannot do what we do without the hard work of volunteers.
