Utah WLC Supports Ag Literacy
Check out the Utah Women's Leadership Committee's commitment to ag literacy!
The American Farm Bureau Foundation presents the Challenge Award to state committees whose members each donate at least $25 to the Foundation. Any state committees including P&E, YF&R, and WLC committees can receive the Challenge Award. We are proud to highlight the Utah Women’s Leadership Committee (WLC) and their continued support of ag literacy through participation in the Challenge Award.
The Utah WLC has facilitated programs that make agricultural education accessible for students and consumers. Using funds from a White-Reinhardt Fund for Education grant, the Utah WLC was able to create classroom kits complete with educational resources including books and lesson plans. These kits were then made accessible to all 29 counties across Utah. Additionally, the Utah WLC partnered with John Deere to distribute Foundation educational materials to a diverse age groups of consumers and educators.
Chairwomen Dot Jensen feels particularly passionate about improving agricultural literacy among elementary aged students, providing young students with a firm foundation of accurate agricultural knowledge can set them up to be positive advocates and conscious consumers in the future.
Because of the support from committees like the Women’s Leadership Committee in Utah, the American Farm Bureau Foundation can create programs for educators allowing them to increase agricultural literacy across the country! Help us continue this mission by supporting the Foundation through participation in the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s Challenge Award!
The deadline to qualify is November 30th, the donation form can be found here!
It is so important to make agricultural education resources accessible, accurate, and understandable.
